Bazi Earthly Branches: Interactions

Bazi Earthly Branch Clashes, with Black representing Cardinal Directions (Peach Blossom Signs)

Bazi or Four Pillar Earthly Branch Clashes

Clashes represent opposing elemental forces and significant conflicts between Earthly branches. When we experience these clashes, they can manifest as either beneficial or challenging energies that typically result in transformation - such as relocating to a new home or transitioning to different employment. The clash dynamic serves as a catalyst for change in our lives.

When clashes occur between Earthly Branches associated with the Earth element, these Earth-to-Earth conflicts are metaphorically described as "earthquakes" - representing significant shifts that manifest in our lives. For instance, when Dragon and Dog clash, or when Ox and Goat Earth energies come into conflict, these interactions often symbolize major life transitions such as relocating to a new residence or changing career paths.

Bazi Harms

Bazi Earthly Branch Harms

Harms in Bazi represent situations that lead to negative outcomes or betrayals. A Harm occurs when one Earthly Branch seeks to combine with another (as part of the six possible combinations), but is prevented from doing so, causing it to harm a third party instead. This disruption of natural combining tendencies creates tension that manifests as adverse circumstances.

Bazi Destruction

Bazi Destruction

Destructions arise from conflicting relationships between Earthly Branches. They can appear in a natal chart when conflicting branch animals occupy adjacent positions, or when a luck pillar with such conflicts arrives. The Destruction creates a sense of inevitability, as if you have no choice in the matter, often manifesting as misunderstandings or disputes that result in harmful consequences.

Bazi Punishments

Self-punishment represents situations where you become your adversary. The four types include these animals: Rooster (You), Pig (Hai), Dragon (Chen) and Horse (Wu).

Uncivilized Punishment (Rat and Rabbit) - manifests as disloyalty, harassment, or romantic entanglements.

Ungrateful Punishment (Monkey, Tiger, and Snake) - brings negative emotions or a sense of being undervalued.

Bullying Punishment (Dragon, Ox, and Goat) - places one either in the position of being bullied or becoming the bully.
