Our Philosophy on Design & Your Wellbeing
South Bay, Los Angeles + Virtually in the US
About
At Balance By The Bay, we believe your home should actively support your well-being. Founded in 2025 in the South Bay of Los Angeles, we know that unresolved issues in your environment can quietly shape how you feel, think, and live.
We examine your space through a layered lens to identify what’s working, what’s not, and how to improve both the look and the support it provides. Every project begins with a discovery process to uncover your unique needs, aspirations, and lifestyle, so solutions are tailored to what matters most to you.
Whether your goal is greater clarity, stronger relationships, enhanced prosperity, or simply a more peaceful, comfortable home, we align your environment with your intentions to help you thrive.

As professionally trained interior designers, we’re equipped to work with a wide range of styles—from traditional to contemporary, coastal to modern organic.
Our focus isn’t on following trends or imposing a specific look. Instead, we help you uncover what feels authentic and functional for your lifestyle. The goal is to create a home that reflects your family’s needs, values, and personality—not someone else’s idea of what it should be.
-
No—each person experiences a home differently. We’re all energetically unique, and the same space can support one family member while challenging another.
Nature designs us with different strengths, needs, and sensitivities, which is why a home that feels nourishing to one person might feel draining or misaligned to someone else. Understanding these individual dynamics is key to creating a space that works harmoniously for everyone who lives there.
-
Balance By The Bay practices classical or traditional feng shui for your home, which includes landform, Eight Mansions (East/West Theory) and compass school (Xuan Kong/Flying Stars).
Following these time-tested feng shui and bazi methodologies is the most successful way of assisting our clients.
-
Not necessarily. While many people benefit from letting go of items they no longer need—especially when those items are blocking pathways or creating energetic stagnation—clutter is highly personal. What feels overwhelming to one person might feel inspiring or comforting to another.
We take a personalized approach by evaluating your space, understanding how you interact with it, and considering your unique energy profile (BaZi). If your belongings genuinely support you and don’t obstruct the natural flow of energy, they can absolutely have a place in your home.
After all, some of the most brilliant minds—like Einstein, Twain, and Steve Jobs—thrived in environments others might call cluttered.
-
Our feng shui corrections use the five elements (fire*, earth, metal, water, and wood) to harmonize, enhance, or remedy energies of concern.
We also use directional energies and compass directions.
*In place of fire, we will utilize light and color.

People often seek consultations when they desire change (i.e., want to have children, get married, work from home, or have better success at work).
Sometimes, illness has manifested after moving into a home, and they want to know if the house is beneficial or harmful to them, acting against recovery. Perhaps health challenges seem overwhelming, and you don’t know where to turn.
In some cases, you may like how a house looks but not how it feels. Or, you need some advice to improve the flow for the occupants.
These (and more!) are valid reasons for a feng shui consultation.
We look forward to learning more about your specific circumstances and seeing how we can assist in harmonizing you with your home and enhancing your well-being and success!

Yes—whether you're currently living in a rental or considering one, we offer consultations to help you evaluate and optimize the space.
In areas like the South Bay, where nearly half of all homes are rentals, it becomes especially important to understand the existing energy of a property. Because renters often have limited control over structural or design changes, identifying supportive layouts and mitigating imbalances from the start can make a meaningful difference in how you feel in the space.
Please note: We currently do not offer Feng Shui consultations for commercial or business properties.
About the Founder
Creativity and curiosity have shaped my unconventional path. Looking for tools beyond interior design led me to Chinese metaphysics, adding another layer to how I see and address the way a home works for the people living in it.
For years, while going back to school for interior design and building my part-time business, I was home with my two daughters. Our family relocated to six states for nine moves, which taught me the importance of making wherever you are feel like “home”—even if it isn’t permanent.
Those moves — from a barrier island to a home built in 1749, across different coasts and into urban cities — furthered my belief that we are shaped by our environments, both inside and outside the home.

My Feng Shui Journey: Finding Balance in a Challenging Home
My feng shui story began in 2011 after our family moved back to the South Bay from Alexandria, Virginia. We were in a rental while still owning property elsewhere, and honestly, everything felt off from day one.
We were named an expert on Redfin.
